dexpanthenol is a precursor of pantothenic acid and has the same biological effect as pantothenic acid. Pantothenic acid and its derivatives are water-soluble vitamins that are an integral part of coenzyme a, which, in the form of coenzyme acetyl-coa, is involved in cellular metabolism. Pantothenic acid is necessary for the formation and regeneration of the skin and mucous membranes. When applied externally, dexpanthenol/panthenol accelerates the processes of epithelization and scarring of damaged skin and mucous membranes. Pantothenic acid and its derivatives are non-toxic. There is no information about the mutagenic, teratogenic or carcinogenic effects of the drug.
Pharmacokinetics. Dexpanthenol penetrates well into the cells of the skin and mucous membrane, where it is transformed into pantothenic acid. Pantothenic acid that enters the systemic circulation accumulates in the tissues of the body, is not metabolized and is excreted unchanged (60–70% in urine, the rest in feces).

The drug is used in the following cases:

1. After five minutes the burning stopped. Usually the burned area is unbearably hot, which is what happened to me. But I didn’t put my hand under the stream of cold water, and besides, experienced colleagues acted clearly and harmoniously. At first it seemed to me that the effect of the product was enhanced by vegetable oil, so relief came after about two minutes. More precisely, the pain and pulsations weakened during this time. But the real pain-relieving effect came in about five minutes.
I just didn't think it was that fast. Soon, I already had to buy this product at the pharmacy for my brother. He works for me as a welder, so burns are his thing. So my brother noted the same speed of impact.
2. As you understand, the burn site immediately turns red. About twenty minutes after applying the ointment, the red spot turned pink, and the area of redness decreased slightly.
3. This all happened in the morning of a working day. I work 12 hours a day. So during the day I applied the ointment to my hand several times (I still have to fill out documents, but the burn was on my right hand). The cost of this drug is 286 rubles, but it will last for a very, very long time, because the consumption is literally meager. For example, I probably didn’t spend half a gram on my daughter’s cut, but there are 35 of them in the tube!
I also think this feature is important - the shelf life here is a whole year after hiding the packaging! Agree, it’s a rare ointment composition that can boast of this!
The advantages include an unobtrusive smell. There are ointments that are based on aggressive aromas, but this one, let’s say, is quite gentle. That is, there is a medicinal smell, but you can easily put up with it for a few minutes until it disappears.
And yes, those who have children should not place the ointment in an accessible place. Mine, for example, developed a whole plan to capture the ointment (this is several chairs stacked on top of each other while I was in the kitchen).
