Name: Norgalax Pharmacological action: Norgalax is a drug from a group of laxatives. The drug contains an active component - sodium docusate - an anionic surfactant. The drug reduces the surface tension of fluid in the large intestine, helps soften stool and stimulates its movement through the intestines. Defecation usually occurs 5-20 minutes after using the drug. The drug acts locally and is practically not absorbed into the systemic circulation.

Indications for use: The drug is used for the symptomatic treatment of patients suffering from periodic constipation, which requires the use of an enema. The drug is also used to prepare patients for diagnostic procedures, in particular for endoscopic examination of the rectum.

The duration of the course of treatment and the dose of the drug are determined by the attending physician individually for each patient. Adults suffering from periodic constipation are usually prescribed 1 dose of the drug once. It is not recommended to use more than 1 dose of the drug per day.
