Experience with the use of Panavir in patients with recurrent miscarriage associated with CMV

Material and methods

The studies were conducted at the ALS-MED medical center in St. Petersburg. We observed 33 women aged 18 to 44 years, who, based on the clinical course and laboratory data, were diagnosed with recurrent H.G. All patients underwent clinical, laboratory, general somatic, and gynecological examinations. For laboratory confirmation of GG, the polymerase chain reaction method was used.

The following symptoms were observed in patients included in the study: 30 (91%) had rashes accompanied by pain, itching and burning; 13 (40%) had malaise, weakness, and headache.

Among the patients, the duration of the disease was less than 1 year in 8 (25%) patients, from 1 year to 5 years - 19 (58%), 5-10 years - 6 (19%).

The main clinical manifestations of relapse of HS were blistering rashes in the genital area, in place of which erosive surfaces subsequently formed.

A severe form of the disease was observed in 4 (13%) patients (more than 6-8 relapses per year), a moderate form - in 9 (28%) (no more than 6 relapses per year), a mild form - in 20 (61%) patients (not more than 3-4 relapses per year). The duration of relapses before treatment was up to 5-7 days in 6 (19%) patients, 7-10 days in 23 (70%), 10 days or more in 4 (13%). During a gynecological examination, blistering rashes and erosive elements were observed on the skin of the vulva and perianal area: on the labia majora in 19 (58%), in the labia minora in 10 (33%), near the anus in 4 (13%).

The antiviral drug Panavir was used for treatment, with 5 injections of a 0.004% solution per course. The patient treated the rash area independently with Panavir gel 3-4 times a day for 3-5 days. No other external or systemic drugs were used.

The effectiveness of the drug was assessed according to generally accepted criteria:

- significant improvement - reduction in the duration of relapse and/or increase in the duration of remission by 2 times or more;

- improvement - reduction in the duration of relapse and/or increase in the duration of remission by less than 2 times;

- lack of effect - no change in the course of local and general manifestations of the disease.

Treatment was considered effective when there was significant improvement and improvement.

The effectiveness of treatment was assessed by regression of subjective symptoms, reduction in the duration of relapse and increase in the duration of remission.

Oral spray PANAVIR INLIGHT

Results and discussion

Final epithelization of erosive-ulcerative lesions was observed after 5.4±0.14 days from the start of treatment (in previous relapses without treatment - after 8.85±1.12 days). The duration of relapse in the observed patients after treatment decreased by almost 1.5-2 times, especially in those with a relapse duration of 7 days or more. Among the treated patients, 26 (80%) noted the anti-inflammatory, analgesic and epithelializing effects of Panavir gel. When assessing the long-term results of treatment after 1, 3 and 6 months of observation, the duration of the remission period increased by 1.5-2 times in 27 (82%) patients. Significant improvement occurred in 19 (58%) patients, improvement in 8 (25%), no effect was recorded in 4 (12%). Thus, treatment was effective in 29 (88%) patients. No complications or side effects were identified during treatment with Panavir. The effectiveness of the treatment was assessed by both the doctor and the patients as good.
