Reviews of Thermopsol

Reviews about the tablets are good. Due to their availability in any pharmacy and relatively low cost, many use them to treat coughs, often replacing more expensive analogues with this remedy.

Reviews about Thermopsol:

  • “... In winter I often catch a cold. When the cold goes away, the dry cough remains. You can, of course, suffer and try to clear your throat until you cry, but I chose a method that has been proven over the years - a remedy based on the herb Thermopsis, cough tablets, the price of which is simply ridiculous”;
  • “... I’ve been taking these pills for 8 days, 3 times a day, the cough was strong, in attacks, with sputum difficult to separate, and remains the same. I’ve been suffering for 2 weeks.”

Mechanism of action of Thermopsol

Alkaloids and other active plant substances stimulate the activity of the secretory glands: they help increase the secretion of gastric juice and mucus. The drug stimulates the work of the ciliated epithelium, helps to liquefy sputum clots and remove them. Thermopsis has an anti-inflammatory effect, reduces swelling, burning and other pathological reactions of the respiratory tract during infectious lesions, and increases the tone of the vascular endothelium. As a result of taking the drug, the cough reflex is strengthened, which further accelerates the passage of accumulated mucus clots.

Sodium bicarbonate - baking soda, shifts the balance to the alkaline side, promoting the death of pathogenic microbes on the surface of the mucous membranes. By reducing acidity, it protects the lining of the stomach from excess hydrochloric acid, reduces painful symptoms of the disease, and reduces the risk of belching and heartburn.

The effect of the drug develops after 1–1.5 hours and lasts up to 6–8 hours. After taking the first dose, the cough becomes more productive, and the breaks between attacks become longer. As you take the tablets, the feeling of congestion in the bronchi and lungs decreases. A dry cough caused by difficult-to-discharge sputum becomes less painful and turns into a wet cough.
