Bisacodyl belongs to a group of drugs with a strong laxative effect. Almost immediately after the drug appeared in pharmacies, in addition to medical purposes, they began to actively use it for weight loss, exploiting the laxative effect of the drug. Weight loss after a single use is significant and amounts to about 2-4 kg.

In therapeutic practice, bisacodyl is prescribed once, in acute situations, and its systematic use is not envisaged. If, due to stagnation of feces and waste in the intestines, signs of poisoning of the body with toxins begin to appear, then the use of bisacodyl is an emergency measure to solve the problem: the settled waste and toxins are completely eliminated in the shortest possible time. The absence of serious manifestations of toxic poisoning is sufficient reason not to use this laxative, but to look for less aggressive options.

For stable weight loss, a one-time use is not enough, therefore, in order to lose weight, this medicine is not used in accordance with the requirements prescribed by the instructions, but in an arbitrary form. This approach guarantees weight loss, but provokes a deficiency of nutrients and macroelements, which negatively affects well-being and health. During weight loss, it is more justified to use a laxative to cleanse the intestines, but only at the first stage of a series of comprehensive measures for weight loss.

Instructions for use of Bisacodyl (Method and dosage)

For those who take Bisacodyl tablets, the instructions for use indicate that this should be done orally in the evening before bed. The starting dose for adults is 5 mg. If the desired effect is not achieved, the dosage can be increased to 15 mg. The instructions for Bisacodyl for children over 6 years old set the dose at 5 mg.

Before surgical operations and medical examinations, take 10 mg of the drug at night.

If Bisacodyl suppositories are used, the instructions for use indicate that this product should be used in dosages of 10-20 mg. For children over 8 years old, 10 mg should be used. And for children from 2 to 7 years old, the drug is recommended to be used at a dose of 5 mg.

The laxative Bisacodyl Acre is taken orally at bedtime or half an hour before breakfast. For adults and children, dosages of 5-15 mg are indicated. Children from 8 to 14 years old are given 5-10 mg. And for children from 2 to 7 years old – 5 mg. The product must be swallowed whole, you can take it with some liquid, but do not chew it.

Before surgical operations, as well as medical research, take 2 tablets per day in the evening.

Instructions for use of Bisacodyl Hemofarm provide the same dosage and administration regimen.

Interaction

Combination with antacid drugs, Ranitidine , Cimetidine , Omeprazole reduces the laxative effect and provokes irritation of the gastric mucosa, which is accompanied by severe pain .

Opiates , cholestyramine , psychotropic and anticholinergic drugs also reduce the effect of the drug.

A long course of Bisacodyl together with cardiac glycosides enhances the effect of the latter.

Carbenoxolone , Hydrochlorothiazide , Prednisolone , Methylprednisolone , Furosemide , Hydrocortisone and Dexamethasone in combination with Bisacodyl increase potassium loss in the body. Accordingly, a deficiency of this microelement may develop.

Bisacodyl for weight loss

Some people use Bisacodyl for weight loss. However, it should be borne in mind that such a remedy will not help get rid of fat deposits. It only helps to remove toxins and waste from the body, as well as improve intestinal function. To some extent, weight is reduced, but this drug is by no means intended for weight loss.

Before you start using Bisacodyl, you need to have a good understanding of what it is and how it should be used. Otherwise, there is a risk that addiction may develop, as well as various side effects (intestinal atony, etc.).

During pregnancy (and lactation)

This drug is almost not absorbed into the bloodstream. It does not have a toxic effect on the fetus and does not contribute to the contractile activity of the uterus. Thus, the drug can be taken during pregnancy . For example, in case of constipation or the need to prepare the body for medical procedures.

However, during pregnancy this remedy should be used with caution. It stimulates active peristaltic movements of the intestines, which may be slightly painful. You need to prepare for such effects.

The drug is harmless to both the woman and the fetus, but it should not be abused. It should be used only if indicated and if other, more natural remedies do not have the desired effect.

It is advisable for pregnant women to use the medicine in the form of suppositories to minimize passage through the gastrointestinal tract. Suppositories and tablets should be used in normal dosages for adults. You need to start using the initial dose (1 suppository or tablet). If necessary, it can be increased the next day.

Reviews about Bisacodyl

Reviews of Bisacodyl may vary depending on the dosage form that is used.

Opinions about suppositories are usually positive. Reviews of Bisacodyl suppositories report the rapid action of this product. Those who have used them note that the laxative effect occurs within about 10-15 minutes after use. Even one suppository, as a rule, causes active bowel movements.

Reviews of Bisacodyl tablets also report that the laxative effect occurs quickly. But they must be taken with caution. Those who have used them recommend starting with a minimum dose, since the drug is potent.

There are also negative reviews about the tablets. People report severe side effects.

Bisacodyl for weight loss receives very different reviews. Those who used it with caution noted that the product helped with short-term weight loss before the holidays. On average, they get rid of about 2-3 kg. In this case, people took 1-2 tablets every other day for a short time (no more than 2 times in 7 days).

However, you can often find stories about negative consequences. In this case, people tended to use the laxative uncontrollably and as a result, it had a negative impact on their health. Such reviews are usually left by girls who, along with a diet, took the drug every day, trying to empty their intestines as much as possible. As a result, the body loses not only toxins, but also a lot of useful substances, dysbiosis develops, an imbalance of electrolytes, dehydration, and intestinal atony . of peristalsis becomes necessary for emptying . Moreover, the dosage of the drug has to be increased. So people who use it incorrectly report developing a kind of addiction. It's not easy to get rid of it. So reviews of Bisacodyl as a means of losing weight are very often negative.

Side effects

A laxative can cause negative reactions such as:

  1. Gas formation.
  2. Pain in the epigastrium.
  3. Feeling nauseous.
  4. Possible vomiting.
  5. Diarrhea, including the profuse type, which leads to dehydration.
  6. Lack of intestinal motility.
  7. Allergic manifestations in the form of swelling, itching, development of urticaria symptoms.
  8. Local irritation in the anus when taking suppositories.

Release forms

There are two main forms of bisacodyl: tablets and rectal suppositories. Both of these forms cause irritation of the nerve endings of the mucous epithelium of the small and large intestines, increasing the secretion of mucus that envelops feces, which facilitates its removal (excretion).

Candles

Rectal suppositories "Bisacodyl" are available in 10 pcs. packaged. The content of the active substance is 10 mg.

To give the necessary consistency, they contain solid fat (semi-synthetic glycerides). The shape is torpedo-shaped, making it easier to insert inside. Used rectally.

The advantage of suppositories is that the use is not time-related with meals. Administration is carried out once a day, the daily norm is 1–2 suppositories.

With this form, possible irritation of the stomach by the active components of the drug is eliminated, which minimizes the possibility of discomfort from the gastrointestinal tract.

Another point that speaks in favor of the use of rectal suppositories: the action time is reduced to one hour, which allows you to get results 5-7 hours faster compared to tablets. The dosage depends on the condition, age, weight and individual metabolic characteristics of the person.

When using suppositories, painful sensations may occur in the anal area.

Pills

Bisacodyl tablets - available in blisters of 6, 12, 24 pcs. or in a plastic container of 30, 50, 100 pcs. in an enteric sugar-containing shell, color – yellow, shape – round, biconvex. The dosage of the active substance is 5 mg.

It takes effect after 6 hours, and if taken before bedtime, after 8-12 hours.
