Hydrovit® (for children):

Pharmacokinetics

After oral administration, glucose is metabolized to carbon dioxide and water (CO2 and H2O), and the remaining components are excreted mainly in the urine and only in small quantities in sweat or feces.

Pharmacodynamics

An oral product that replaces the loss of fluid and electrolytes and helps normalize metabolism and eliminate acidosis.

Gidrovit® is a polyelectrolyte preparation for oral rehydration. Contains electrolytes, the deficiency of which is often noted with diarrhea in children (Na+, K+, Cl-, HCO3-). Timely use of the drug can prevent the occurrence of electrolyte disorders and acidosis, especially with dyspepsia in infants. The glucose contained in the drug is a source of energy that provides the basic needs of the body.

Contraindications

hyperkalemia;

acute or chronic renal failure;

uncontrollable vomiting;

depression of consciousness, hypovolemic shock;

disturbance of acid-base balance (metabolic alkalosis);

impaired absorption of carbohydrates in the intestine (congenital monosaccharide malabsorption).

Carefully

under the following conditions:

water-electrolyte imbalance associated with renal failure;

heart failure;

arterial hypertension;

diabetes mellitus (Hydrovit® contains 3.56 g of glucose in one package).

Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding

The use of the drug is not contraindicated.

Directions for use and doses

1. Dissolve the contents of one sachet of Hydrovit® in 200 ml of drinking or freshly boiled chilled water or tea.

Middle age children:

single dose - 1 sachet after each bowel movement.

For older children and adults:

single dose - 1-2 sachets after each bowel movement.

The drug is prescribed in the form of a solution at a rate of 150 ml/kg for infants and young children and from 20 to 40 ml/kg for middle-aged and older children and adults.

Higher doses can be used at the beginning of treatment to quickly and completely replace fluid loss.

The advisability of continuing treatment (more than 24 hours for infants and young children and more than 36 hours for school-age children and adults) is determined by the doctor.

At room temperature, the ready-to-use solution is stable for 1 hour. All unused portions of the solution should be discarded 1 hour after administration.

Interaction

The effect of cardiac glycosides may be weakened. In patients undergoing treatment with glycosides, when taking Hydrovit® it is necessary to monitor the concentration of potassium in the blood.

Overdose

Symptoms:

For patients without impaired renal function, there is usually no risk of poisoning or overdose with this drug.
When using this glucose-electrolyte solution in patients with confirmed or latent diabetes mellitus (diabetes mellitus),
blood sugar levels may increase, leading to a diabetic coma. Accidental intoxication with undiluted powder may disrupt electrolyte balance and worsen diarrhea.

You should always consult a doctor in case of overdose.

special instructions

Treatment with Gidrovit® should be started as soon as possible to avoid the consequences of serious fluid loss (depression of consciousness, hypovolemic shock). Severe dehydration, especially in infants, should be initially treated with intravenous fluids and then, if appropriate, with oral therapy.

Diarrhea accompanied by frequent vomiting may be a sign of a serious illness. If diarrhea persists for a long time and/or if your general condition worsens, you should consult a doctor immediately.

When using the drug Hydrovit® in breastfed children, no change in diet is required. It is necessary to continue to give Hydrovit® in small portions between feedings.

Children who are not breastfed can return to a normal diet after 6–12 hours. Infants under 6 months of age should dilute the first portion of formula with water (1:2 or 1:1). For older infants, their usual portion of formula is given undiluted. Younger and older children should be given age-appropriate foods containing polymeric carbohydrates (eg potatoes, rice, bananas).

Hydrovit® is not recommended for use if the drug is poorly absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract when taken orally (for example, in case of acute intestinal obstruction, vomiting).

Persons suffering from phenylketonuria, an inborn error of metabolism, should remember that Hydrovit® (strawberry for children) contains aspartame, a sugar substitute that is converted into phenylalanine in the body.

Patients suffering from diabetes mellitus should take into account that one packet of Hydrovit® contains 3.56 g of glucose, which is equivalent to 3.56 g of carbohydrates or 0.3 g of carbohydrate substitute.

Glucose concentration in the prepared solution for oral administration: 90 mmol/l.

Concentration of electrolytes in the prepared solution for oral administration: Na+ - 60 mmol/l; K+ - 20 mmol/l; Cl- — 60 mmol/l; C6H507- — 10 mmol/l.

The osmolality of the prepared solution for oral administration is 240 mOsm/l.
