DIMEXIDE (concentrate for solution)

What is Dimexide used for?

The drug is prescribed for problems with the functioning of the musculoskeletal system. In addition, in case of subcutaneous damage to soft tissues, Dimexide actively relieves the inflammatory process. The ability of the drug to enhance the effect of other drugs is often used by doctors in antibacterial therapy. Direct indications for prescribing Dimexide are:

  • bursitis;
  • arthrosis;
  • arthritis;
  • radiculitis;
  • gout;
  • osteochondrosis;
  • pain syndrome due to intervertebral hernia;
  • scleroderma;
  • skin ulcers;
  • swelling accompanied by pain;
  • synovitis

In addition to the above problems, Dimexide is also used in other areas, including cosmetology.

Dimexide

Dimexide (active ingredient - dimethyl sulfoxide) is an anti-inflammatory and analgesic drug for external use, used mainly for the complex treatment of diseases of the musculoskeletal system. It has a moderate disinfecting and fibrinolytic effect. Dimethyl sulfoxide, the active component of the drug, suppresses inflammatory tissue infiltration. In addition, it normalizes the process of fibrin formation, stimulates blood circulation in the capillary bed, suppresses aggregation (sticking together) of red blood cells, activates phagocytosis, inhibits neutrophil chemotaxis, and reduces the concentration of immune complexes circulating in the plasma. Dimexide penetrates well through the skin, mucous membranes and even the cell walls of microorganisms, as well as other biological membranes, making them more permeable, including for other drugs. In addition, the drug increases the sensitivity of bacteria to antibiotics. Among the advantages of dimexide, one should also note its low toxicity. When the drug is applied externally, the active substance is detected in the blood within 10-15 minutes, with the maximum concentration achieved after 2-8 hours. After 30-36 hours, dimethyl sulfoxide is no longer detectable in the blood. When used topically, dimexide also penetrates into the joint cavity. Once in the blood, the drug binds to plasma proteins. Dimexide does not accumulate in the body. The drug is excreted unchanged or in the form of metabolites (dimethyl sulfone, dimethyl sulfate) by the kidneys along with urine. A small part of dimexide in the form of a reduction product (dimethyl sulfide) is released along with exhaled air.

Dimexide is available in a single dosage form - as a gel for external use. For adults and children over 12 years of age, apply a thin layer of gel to the affected area 1-2 times a day. The duration of treatment is on average 1.5-2 weeks. A repeated course of medication may be administered no earlier than after 10 days.

Considering the possible development of reactions of individual intolerance to dimexide, it is recommended to conduct a drug test to determine compatibility with it before starting treatment. To carry it out, the gel is applied to the skin in the elbow area. If after this there is severe hyperemia and itching, the drug should not be used. If allergic reactions develop during the course of medication, treatment is stopped and antihistamines are prescribed. An overdose of dimexide is manifested by an increase in dose-dependent negative side effects. In such cases, treatment should be interrupted, rinse the damaged area with water, completely removing the drug from the surface of the skin. When used together, dimexide does not exhibit pharmacological antagonism towards heparin, local antibiotics and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. The drug increases the sensitivity of bacteria to aminoglycosides and beta-lactams, chloramphenicol, griseofulvin, rifampicin. As already noted, dimexide dramatically increases the ability of drugs to penetrate the skin and create peak concentrations at the site of their application. The presence of its own antibacterial effect, the ability to activate nonspecific

Resistance factors stimulate skin restoration in various destructive processes. This makes it possible to effectively use dimexide to treat patients with erysipelas. In clinical studies, the drug significantly reduced the duration of external symptoms of inflammation - hyperemia, swelling, pain. Purulent complications when dimexide is included in a complex drug course of treatment for patients with erysipelas are not

registered. In the group in which this drug was not used, the number of purulent complications was close to 10%. Side effects when using dimexide are quite rare and in most cases are of no clinical significance and are not grounds for discontinuation of the drug.

How to dilute Dimexide for hair

As a result of the fact that Dimexide was seen as a kind of catalyst for some local drugs, which quickly penetrated the cellular barrier deep into the tissues, Dimexide began to be used as part of cosmetic masks.

In particular, by mixing a teaspoon of the substance concentrate with essential oils, lemon juice, aloe extract and honey, you get an effective hair mask. Its regular use relieves hair from brittleness, gives rich shine and restores natural growth. And if you mix a teaspoon of Dimexide with ground red pepper and apply it to the scalp, holding for 15 minutes, you can wake up dormant bulbs, resulting in thicker curls.

How to dilute Dimexide for boils

Inflammation of the skin glands, which develop into boils, is often accompanied by a local increase in temperature and tension on the skin surface. In order to relieve pain and reduce tissue tension due to growing inflammation, dilute Dimexide in warm water in the proportion of 1 ml of concentrate per 10 ml of clean water. Cotton pads are soaked in the resulting solution and applied to the boils. It is important not to rub, rub, or knead an unruptured boil. Safe use is considered to be simply applying a moistened swab to the inflamed area.

How to dilute Dimexide for heel spurs

The situation with inflammation of the heel, called a heel spur, can be resolved not only through surgery. In some situations, a conservative method using Dimexide may help. It is important to begin treatment at the first signs of inflammation in order to prevent the disease from entering an irreversible phase when the help of a surgeon is required. For spurs, use a concentration of Dimexide diluted in water in a one to one ratio. Taking 20 ml of the drug you need to add 20 ml of water.

For severe pain, novocaine 2% is added to the solution in a volume equal to the amount of Dimexide and water. A cloth is moistened in the resulting liquid and placed on the sore spot. The compress is covered with polyethylene and a wool sock is put on.

DIMEXIDE (concentrate for solution)

bley for the bottle, it all depends on which pharmacy chain you buy from.
Packaging in cardboard boxes with the name of the product and designation of its percentage and volume.

Manufacturer Tula Pharmaceutical Factory, all information about the manufacturer is indicated on the packaging.

The packaging says that the product is sold in a pharmacy and is available with a prescription, strange, I bought it in the public domain and no one asked me for a doctor’s prescription.

At the bottom of the package are the production and expiration dates, as well as the production series.

Inside the cardboard box is a dark glass pharmacy bottle with information about the manufacturer, name of the product, storage conditions and expiration dates.

The cap on the bottle is plastic and screws off. The neck of the bottle is closed with a special polymer stopper.

The solution itself is liquid, the consistency is slightly oily. The color is transparent and almost odorless. Previously, the solution had such an unpleasant smell and was very strong; when you use it, it seems that everything smells of this smell; you even have a bad taste in your mouth. Now the manufacturers have probably worked on this shortcoming of the product and the smell is almost absent and it is not so pungent and sharp.

Inside the box there is an insert with complete information about the solution. Be sure to study it before use.

Once again, the solution helps with bruises and sprains in the ankle. After several times of using compresses with dimexide, the pain and swelling of the leg went away. I always dilute dimexide one to one, diluted with water for injection purchased at the pharmacy. I make a solution for one use, apply a warming compress, with film and insulation. You need to keep this compress for no more than half an hour, I try to do it during the day. I had a bad experience applying it at night, I applied a compress and fell asleep. As a result, I got an allergic reaction, the skin turned red, there was a feeling that the whole leg was burning, then I had to treat the allergy, so I advise you to do the procedure during the daytime. For severe pain, you can add a liquid pain reliever, for example, an ampoule of lidocaine, to the solution. Dimexide is also good because it quickly enhances the effect of other medications and the patient feels relief much faster. The solution is of course universal and its range of applications is large. It is prescribed to both adults and children for colds, used in dentistry and gynecology, and to treat skin diseases. The product is universal with a wide spectrum of action, effective and, of course, time-tested. My family and I have had to use it more than once, and the result has always pleased us with its productivity. Therefore, I advise you to have it in your first aid kit. I recommend the concentrate for preparing the solution from the Tula pharmaceutical factory “Dimexide” for use and purchase. I will rate the effectiveness of the solution as excellent! Thank you all for your attention to my review! Be healthy! See you soon!

Dimexide for sinusitis

Sinusitis is an inflammation of the maxillary sinuses, accompanied by an accumulation of mucus pressing on the nasal cartilage from the inside. The disease may be accompanied by redness of the skin over the sinuses, as well as an increase in temperature, which is localized in the area of the inflammatory process. Dimexide will help relieve swelling of the mucous membranes and reduce inflammation in the nasal passages. It is mixed with saline solution in a ratio of 1:3.

You can also add aloe juice or vasoconstrictor nasal drops, for example, naphthyzine or phenylephrine. After moistening cotton swabs in the resulting solution, they are inserted into each nasal passage and kept in this position for up to 20 minutes. This treatment can be repeated for up to 7 days in a row.

Flaws:

may cause allergies

many side effects

Many medications have a lot of side effects described in their instructions; they do not always occur in everyone and not to their full extent. This is individual, but still you don’t want to tempt your fate once again. I want to share my negative experience, which may help someone decide to refuse and not take risks with the use of Dimexide. When I was about 20 years old, my therapist prescribed a compress with a dimexide solution for back pain. Now I don’t remember what the purpose was, but I remember that I used cellophane, a diaper and a warm scarf. I applied a compress on my back in the area just below my shoulder blades, after which redness and itching appeared there. I was scared, I couldn’t stand the itching, so I went to the appointment.

My doctor was relatively young, and at that moment an older doctor was sitting next to me, and so she diagnosed shingles, because I had back pain (although it appeared long before this rash), rashes and itching. I thought it was strange, the rashes were localized exactly in the place where the bandage with the compress was, but I didn’t argue. They have already prescribed me treatment for herpes zoster. I don’t remember exactly, I think they told me to smear the affected area with castellani liquid and take some kind of antiviral medicine. But that's not the point. And the fact that I had a banal allergic reaction, I also went to another doctor, because I had doubts about the unexpectedly appeared not very pleasant disease, which, moreover, as I was informed, takes quite a long time to be treated. To be honest, I don’t even remember what I was advised to treat this terrible side effect, but I have remembered the name of this drug for the rest of my life and always immediately name it on the list of intolerables.

And then I read on the website that people advise experimenting with it to treat hair. I immediately remembered my unsuccessful experience with a compress on my back, so without delay I immediately began writing this review. After all, the scalp is very sensitive, itching and dryness are the most unpleasant things, and hair is not the least important part of a person’s beauty. If you are careless, the solution may get into your eyes. So, I advise you to be more careful with your choice of hair care methods and products. After all, besides dimexide, there are so many safer products in this regard!

For a child who was 1.5 years old, she applied a compress with dimexide for bronchitis more than once; it helped speed up recovery. But at 3 years old, after the compress in the morning, the child’s face was unrecognizable, it was very swollen, and his eyes could barely open. So it seems to me that children should use it with caution! It’s better to carry out a test on a small area of the skin; if there is redness, then it’s better to consult with your doctor than you can replace the compress

The operated knee hurts and crunches (resection of the menisci and reconstruction of the anterior cross in 2009). I decided to try Dimexide gel. On the third day, the knee turned red (everything was covered with swelling) and began to itch. I didn't even have time to feel the effect. Only allergies. That's all.

As prescribed by the neurologist, I applied compresses to the lumbar region. The first thing you notice is, of course, its “wonderful aroma”, I didn’t think it looked like garlic, but I still didn’t like it) after a couple of days you start to get used to it)) I made compresses in a ratio of 1:3 with water for a week, 2 times a day, unfortunately it didn’t help me at all, although I’ve heard good reviews, and my mother got rid of spurs with its help. In recent days, a small burn has appeared, or it was just irritation, which passed quickly after discontinuation. In general, from the experience of loved ones, I want to say that the drug is effective, it relieves pain well, but apparently it is not suitable for everyone, like any other drug. And now I am facing therapeutic blockades.

After reading the reviews, I was very surprised that it was used for hair, I can’t imagine how you could smear it on your head, except perhaps while wearing a gas mask. Girls, don’t experiment on yourself, we live in the 21st century, there are a lot of special hair products that are tested and certified for these purposes, for every taste and budget. Take care of your health!

After I destroyed my hair by bleaching and had to cut it to my shoulders (it was “below the waist”), I wanted to grow it out as quickly as possible and I read all sorts of mask recipes on the Internet. Mustard dries out my hair a lot and my scalp started to itch, so I decided to try a hair mask with Dimexide. I bought a bottle at the pharmacy. It wasn't expensive. I mixed a regular mask from the store with essential oil and Dimexide. After several uses (I did everything according to the recipe), my hair began to fall out in clumps. This is some kind of nightmare. I had to restore my hair with herbal decoctions and henna dyeing. Before this, using a mask with essential oils did not cause my hair to fall out like this.

The bottle stood on my shelf with cosmetics until my mother took it away. A friend recommended a face mask with Dimexide, which supposedly helps beneficial substances penetrate deeper into the skin cells. After the first use, the facial skin became dry, wrinkles appeared, and my mother was unhappy with this mask.

I do not recommend this chemical crap to anyone. Beauty requires sacrifice, but not like this!

I made compresses with dimexide for heel spurs on the recommendation of a rheumatologist. For some reason the pain even intensified. I used it once again for a bruised elbow. So after the compress I couldn’t move my hand at all: my whole hand hurt, especially my wrist.

Dries hair

A few years ago I worked with a girl who had a beautiful long braid. I asked how she takes care of it and the girl recommended this mask to me. A mask with dimexide for hair growth, and according to her, it also helped restore hair after a perm. I can no longer reproduce the composition exactly; dimexide had to be heated and several types of oils added, if I’m not mistaken about the water. Recipes for such masks can be found in abundance on the Internet. The point is that dimexide warms up the hair roots and, apparently, the hair follicles should be activated. In theory, everything is very wonderful. But. I made these masks for more than six months, 2 times a week. I applied the main amount of the composition to the roots; there was little at the ends of the hair. But it still dried out the ends of my hair. After some time, I got tired of preparing these masks, I simply stopped making them because I did not see any progress in hair growth. I think that in six months it was already possible to draw some conclusions about the growth rate. But the quality of the hair noticeably suffered - it looked like after chemical treatment. curls are lifeless, uneven, lacking shine. Now my hair looks many times better. Can't compare. And longer and without this “miracle mask”. I’ll add that there couldn’t be any damaging factors other than this mask - I don’t use a hairdryer, I don’t style or dye my hair, I take care of it in every possible way. This is such an unpleasant story. Be careful, this mask may not be suitable for everyone. Huge effort, but the result is terrible. When I see photographs of myself from that period, I am horrified - how could I not notice that it was all from the mask? I don't understand. It’s good that now I no longer experiment with such means.

Adverse reactions

The use of Dimexide, like any other drug, can lead to unpleasant side reactions. Among them:

  • redness of skin areas;
  • burning in the area of application;
  • allergic reactions, manifested by nasal congestion, drainage from the eyes, bronchospasm and rhinitis;
  • skin pigmentation;
  • nausea;
  • muscle weakness;
  • dizziness;

At the first signs of illness as a result of using Dimexide, you should definitely stop therapy and discuss what happened with your doctor.
