The use of bischofite in the treatment of the human musculoskeletal system

Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

Pharmacodynamics

Bishofite is a natural mineral containing a complex of minerals and trace elements ( iodine , boron , copper , iron , silicon ). Bishofite Poltava is extracted in the form of brine (oily consistency) when drilling wells 2.5 km deep and has a total mineralization of 340 g/l (like no other mineral spring). It undergoes complex processing, but after it completely retains the complex of macro- and microelements. It has a high percentage of magnesium , which is necessary for building bone tissue, regulating muscle contraction and relaxation, transmitting nerve signals, and improving immunity .

Transdermal use of the drug (magnesium chloride is quickly absorbed) is a simple and effective way to increase magnesium in the body.

It has an anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect, stimulates tissue regeneration . Strengthens muscle and connective tissue, improves blood microcirculation, activates lymph flow and metabolic processes. Very effective for stress and for improving sleep. Low toxicity , absence of allergenic and carcinogenic properties have been proven.

Pharmacokinetics

Not studied.

Bishofite in nature

Accumulations of bischofite are usually small: scattered, sometimes single inclusions, individual nests and thin layers and lenses. Bishofite is very hygroscopic, it quickly dissolves in air, easily dissolves in water and alcohol, and has a bitter taste. The color of the mineral is often colorless, water-transparent, white; colored varieties (orange and reddish-brown) are less common. The texture of bischofite rock is massive, layered or spotted. The latter arises due to the uneven distribution of impurity minerals: halite, kieserite, carnallite, sylvite, anhydrite, etc. For many decades, bischofite had the status of a rare mineral. This opinion existed even after its discovery in 1930–1950. in the Caspian depression on the Ozinki and Chelkar salt domes of bischofite rocks in bedded formation; The thickness of the layers here reaches 15-20 m. Horizons with bischofite most often have a bischofite-carnallite and carnallite-bischofite composition, but their kieserite-containing varieties are also widespread. What seemed surprising was that individual layers and interlayers were composed of almost monomineral bischofite rock with a bischofite content of 95-98%. The huge volume of exploration work for oil and gas carried out in recent decades in the territory of the Caspian basin and its surroundings has made it possible to study quite well the structure and composition of the salt-bearing section, mainly from field geophysical data and much less from well cores. This led to the discovery in the 60s. bischophyte-bearing province of the Northern Caspian region, the only one in the world so far characterized by such powerful bischophyte accumulation (Derevyagin et al., 19816). Bischofite deposits were found in various parts of the Caspian basin; unique bischofite formations were discovered on the Volga monocline. Their uniqueness lies in the fact that, firstly, the thickness of the layers of almost pure bischofite rocks reaches several tens of meters; secondly, the bischofite horizons have a regional development, extending in an almost continuous strip 10–50 km wide from north to south for more than 400 km; thirdly, the forecast reserves of bischofite are estimated at hundreds of billions of tons; fourthly, the discovery of large deposits of bischofite forced researchers to reconsider the improbability of the existence of exceptional conditions for their formation in different geological eras.

No less unique, in comparison with the bischofites of the Volga monocline, are the thick, up to 100 m, deposits of tachhydrite (2MgCl2 • CaCl2 • 12H2O), discovered in the mid-60s. in Brazil, Gabon and Congo; they contain layers and layers of bischofite. Tachhydrite was also considered a rare mineral, requiring special conditions for its formation and preservation in a fossil state. Previously, it was found in the potash deposits of Zechstein (Germany) as a secondary mineral in association with carnallite, sylvite, kieserite, boracite and other minerals of salt deposits. Geological and geophysical research, prospecting and exploratory drilling work over the past twenty years in our country and abroad have led to the discovery of new areas of bischofite accumulation. It has been established that a number of salt-bearing formations of the world of various ages, from Lower Permian to Quaternary, contain bischofites in varying amounts. Some of the salt-bearing basins are characterized by a stratal type of bischofite rock deposits, often of industrial importance (Caspian basin, Volga monocline, Dnieper-Donets basin, Pripyat trough; basins: Western European, Gabon, Congo). The information obtained about bischofite has been reviewed in numerous works by researchers from many countries, which allows us to make a brief overview of the occurrences and deposits of bischofite established in various salt-bearing basins.

Chemical composition

Chemical theoretical composition of bischofite: Mg - 11.96; Cl - 34.88; H2O - 53.16. It may contain Br as an isomorphic impurity, since it is isostructural with MgBr2• 6H2O. In natural primary bischofite, up to 1% Br was noted; secondary bischofite from Ozinki contains no more than 0.1% Br. Composition of bischofite from Leopoldschal (anal. König): Mg - 11.86; Cl - 35.04; H2O- [53.10]. Density 1.65.

Crystallographic characteristics

Syngony. Monoclinic. C2h3 — C2/m

The monoclinic cell can be replaced by a primitive triclinic pseudorhombohedral cell half the size.

Class. Prismatic C2h-2/m (L2PC)

Crystal structure

In the structure, each Mg atom is surrounded by six water molecules in a regular octahedron. Of the eight Cl atoms adjacent to Mg, 2Cl are closer to the Mg(H2O)6 complex and are located at two opposite ends of the line connecting the midpoints of the faces of the H2O octahedron. Thus, the structure contains Mg(H2O)6Cl2 groups, which indicates its molecular nature. The remaining six Cl atoms are located at a slightly greater distance from Mg and form a ring in a plane perpendicular to the axis of the molecule. The elongation axes of the molecules are almost exactly perpendicular to the (201) plane.

Contraindications

  • benign and malignant tumors ;
  • hypersensitivity;
  • violation of the integrity of the skin at the sites of application;
  • joint diseases in the acute stage;

Instructions for use of Bishofite (Method and dosage)

Instructions for Bishofit Poltavsky

Apply externally in the form of rubbing and compresses, diluting the brine with hot water in a 1:1 ratio. An area of the body (spine or joint) is warmed with a lamp or a heating pad, the solution is lightly rubbed in and the painful area is rubbed for 3-5 minutes, after which a warming compress is applied. To do this, moisten a cotton cloth or gauze with brine, apply it to the area of pain, cover it with parchment paper, and insulate it. After removing the compress, the skin should be rinsed with warm water. The procedures are performed every other day, for a course - 10-12 procedures. In pediatric practice, Bischofite solution is used in a smaller ratio of 1:0.5. During the procedures, crystals of the drug may fall out and settle on the skin and underwear.

Electrophoresis with Bischofite is performed with a 10% aqueous solution and the drug is administered using galvanic current from both electrodes (anode and cathode). Duration 15 minutes. The course requires 10-15 daily procedures. After the procedure, the drug is not washed off the skin and a gauze bandage is applied for up to 6-8 hours.

Ointment 911 with Bischofite (more correctly, gel-balm) is intended for external use as an adjuvant for joint diseases. Contains additional extracts of golden mustache , comfrey and cinquefoil , juniper oil, lavender, fir, rosemary and eucalyptus, which enhance the effect. The use of the gel reduces pain, stimulates the production of synovial fluid, helps restore cartilage tissue and joint mobility.

The gel is rubbed into painful areas 2-3 times a day; additional insulation is not necessary. The course of treatment is 14 days, after a month the treatment is repeated.
