Component Properties

Lycopene is a carotenoid with antioxidant properties. Lycopene selectively accumulates in prostate tissue and protects cells from damage by free radicals. Reduces the activity of inflammatory and autoimmune processes in prostate tissues, prevents the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone and controls the excessive proliferation of prostate cells. Lycopene improves sperm quality by increasing the number of normal active forms of sperm. One of the most important properties of lycopene is a proven reduction in the risk of developing prostate cancer when used systematically.

Palm dwarf fruit extract blocks the main mechanisms of development of prostate adenoma by suppressing the activity of enzymes involved in the activation of testosterone, and also has a pronounced anti-inflammatory and anti-edematous effect in prostatitis, which leads to a decrease in the frequency of nighttime urge to urinate, a decrease in the volume of residual urine and an increase in the speed of urine flow .

African plum bark extract reduces the proliferation of prostate cells, protects the vascular wall, thereby reducing swelling and inflammation, and also helps normalize the tone and eliminate spasms of the muscles of the bladder and urethra.

Nettle root extract reduces the proliferation of prostate tissue and eliminates urination problems.

Vitamin E has pronounced antioxidant activity and significantly enhances the anticancer effect of lycopene.

Vitamin C increases the body's resistance to infections, reduces the severity of inflammatory reactions, and supports the enzyme system of antioxidant defense.

Vitamin D3 is an active form of vitamin D that has an inhibitory effect on the proliferation of prostate cancer cells. High levels of vitamin D3 in the blood reduce the risk of developing prostate cancer.

Chromium controls the growth and differentiation of normal and cancerous prostate cells.

Selenium, an antioxidant necessary for the normal functioning of the prostate, works together with vitamin E to promote the death of prostate cancer cells.

Zinc plays an important role in ensuring the antimicrobial activity of prostate secretions. Additional zinc intake reduces the severity of the inflammatory reaction and, accordingly, prostatic symptoms.

Microelements are included in the preparation in the form of organic compounds (chelate complexes), which improves their digestibility.

Likoprofit inhibits the activity of 5-alpha reductase and excess production of dihydrotestosterone, normalizes the metabolism of androgens and androgen-binding proteins, the production of growth factors and the sensitivity of prostate cells to them, suppresses the expression and sensitivity of steroid receptors that regulate the metabolic processes of prostate cells, improves microcirculation in prostate tissues, increases the antimicrobial properties of prostatic secretions; helps reduce dynamic and mechanical obstruction of the urinary tract; inhibits the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, PG and LT; supports enzyme and coenzyme systems of antioxidant protection of cells and tissues; increases immunoresistance and reduces the activity of autoimmune processes.

Likoprofit reduces prostate hypertrophy, has an anti-inflammatory effect, which leads to the elimination of urinary difficulties and the easing of pain.

Experience of using the drug Likoprofit in complex therapy of patients with chronic prostatitis

Chronic prostatitis is one of the most common diseases of men aged 20-50 years. Currently, drugs from the group of bioflavonoids are used in the complex treatment of chronic prostatitis.

The purpose of the study was to study the effectiveness and safety of the use of the drug Licoprofit in the complex therapy of chronic prostatitis.

In the urology clinic of the Ural State Medical Academy, 100 patients suffering from chronic prostatitis, aged from 23 to 50 years, were observed; the duration of prostatitis at the time of treatment ranged from 4 months to 8 years. In all patients, in the analysis of prostate secretions, the number of leukocytes exceeded 50 in the field of view.

The examination included medical history, NIH-CPSI questionnaire, 1999, clinical examination, general urine analysis, complete blood count, digital rectal examination, analysis of prostate secretions, TRUS of the prostate, ultrasound of the kidneys and bladder, PSA blood, uroflowmetry. Out of 100 patients, 2 groups were divided depending on the use of the drug Licoprofit. In patients of group 1 (58 patients), the drug Licoprofit, 1 drop, was used in the complex treatment of chronic prostatitis. 2 times a day with meals. Patients of group 2 (42 patients) did not receive Licoprofit in the complex treatment of chronic prostatitis.

Control examinations were carried out 3 and 6 months after the start of treatment. Evaluation criteria: the number of leukocytes and lecithin grains in the prostate secretion, the size of the prostate and the echo structure of the prostate according to transrectal ultrasound examination of the prostate, ultrasound examination of the bladder with determination of the volume of residual urine, uroflowmetry with determination of the average, maximum speed of urination, time of urination.

results

During the treatment process, the majority of patients in both groups showed positive dynamics in general well-being and data from objective research methods.

In group 1, leukocytes and bacteria were absent in the prostate secretion in 49 patients (84.5%), while in group 2 – in 34 (80.95%) patients. After 6 months, 50 (86.2%) patients in group 1 had no clinical manifestations of the disease, while in group 2, 9 (21.4%) patients showed an increase in the number of leukocytes in the prostate secretion (Figure 1).

According to uroflowmetry data, in both groups there was an increase in the average urination rate by 1.9-2.6 ml/s (Figure 3) and a decrease in urination time by 1.5-2.6 s. (Figure 4). The average volume of residual urine in group 1 before treatment was 41 cm3, after - 34 cm3; in group 2: 37 cm3 before treatment and 34 cm3 after (Figure 2).

In 50 (86.2%) patients of group 1, 3 months after the start of treatment, normalization of the size of the gland and the echo structure of the gland was noted according to transrectal ultrasound; in 19 patients (45.2%) of group 2 after 3 months there was preservation of the enlarged size of the prostate gland (Figure 5).

Analysis of the NIH-CPSI questionnaires, 1999 showed a decrease in the average score in the first group to 10.9 ± 2.7 and to 15.7 ± 3.3 in the second. Blood PSA levels before and after treatment in both groups did not exceed 3.6 ng/ml.

Conclusion

Adding Licoprofit to the treatment of chronic prostatitis increases the effectiveness of treatment. This is probably due to the complex anti-inflammatory antiproliferative effect of the drug. It should be noted that during the use of the drug Licoprofit, not a single case of side effects or intolerance to the drug was registered. All of the above indicates that Likoprofit is a safe and effective drug in the complex treatment of patients with chronic prostatitis.

Analogs

There are no exact analogs of Licoprofit in composition. It can only be replaced with other agents that affect the genitourinary system. These include:

  1. Indigalplus. This drug simultaneously eliminates the symptoms and causes of the disease. It is mainly prescribed for prostate cancer.
