Form of the medicinal product
The antimicrobial agent Unidox Solutab contains the active substance - doxycycline monohydrate. The release form of the drug is tablets. Various substances are additionally used for their production. Their list is given in the instructions for use of the drug.
Biconvex tablets have certain external signs that can be used to exclude counterfeit. They have a grayish-yellow or brownish tint. Blotches are visible on their surface. In addition, there is an engraving “173” and a risk on different sides. Tablets are packaged in blisters of 10 pieces.
What medications are strictly prohibited from taking alcohol?
There are several specific antibiotics that directly interact with ethyl alcohol. Drinking any amount of alcohol is strictly prohibited during treatment with drugs from the list.
- Metronidazole: An antimicrobial agent most often prescribed to treat dental and vaginal infections. Metronidazole is added to external products intended for cleaning trophic ulcers and treating deep bedsores.
- Tinidazole: An antibiotic designed to fight simple infections. Included in drugs aimed at combating Helicobacter pylori.
- Cycloserine: prescribed for the treatment of tuberculosis, lung infections. In combination with ethyl alcohol it causes convulsions.
- Linezolid: Used to treat skin infections and is effective against bacteria that are resistant to other types of antibiotics.
Alcohol in combination with the above drugs provokes a sharp increase in blood pressure, headaches, and drowsiness. It must be remembered that side effects occur even if the antibacterial agent is used in the format of an external cream or gel.
When is it prescribed?
Unidox Solutab, the instructions indicate this, is prescribed for the treatment of various infectious and inflammatory diseases that are provoked by drug-sensitive pathogenic microorganisms.
A wide range of applications makes it possible to successfully treat diseases of the respiratory system and ENT organs. Indications for prescribing the medicine are infectious diseases of the genitourinary system and gastrointestinal tract. The effectiveness of Unidox Solutab 100 has been proven in the treatment of skin pathologies and in the prevention of purulent complications after operations.
A detailed explanation of the indications for the tetracycline antibiotic is contained in the instructions for use. It is the basis for prescribing the drug.
Ureaplasma and pregnancy
Despite numerous debates about the influence of ureaplasma on the course and outcome of pregnancy, there is still no consensus on the treatment tactics for this group of women. Previously, this microorganism was “blamed” for premature birth and spontaneous miscarriages. Research to date has refuted the above. For example, experts from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC, 2010) do not consider the etiological role and clinical significance of ureaplasma to be proven. When ureaplasma is combined with other infectious pathogens (chlamydia, trichomonas, gonorrhea, mycoplasma), antibacterial treatment is necessary! And it must be carried out taking into account the sensitivity of the above microorganisms to antibacterial drugs. Routine screening of pregnant women for ureaplasma is not carried out.
In conclusion, I want to say that there is no need to be afraid of ureaplasma. Remember, your gynecologist should carry out treatment only taking into account the entire clinical picture, and not on the basis of routine tests.

Complex use of Unidox Solutab in the treatment of urogenital infection
Farbirovich V.Ya., Danilenko V.A.
Urology Clinic of Kemerovo State Medical Academy, Kemerovo, Russia Introduction. Epididymitis, prostatitis, orchiepididymitis are common diseases that a urologist has to deal with in outpatient practice.
The high prevalence of this pathology and the lack of effectiveness in treatment determine the relevance of the problem of these diseases.
Until recently, doxycycline hydrochloride, fluoroquinolones, and macrolides were used to treat this pathology. The advantages of the drug Unidox Solutab doxycycline monohydrate are the absence of irritating effects of the drug on the stomach, its easier tolerability and low cost compared to other groups of drugs.
The combined use of three drugs Unidox Solutab, multivitamin Multitabs intensive and Viferon 2 suppositories (500 thousand, 1 suppository in the rectum, 2 times a day for 5 days) The use of this combination leads to almost complete cure.
Purpose of the study: to study the effect of the drug Unidox Solutab in complex therapy in the treatment of epididymitis, orchiepididymitis, as well as ureaplasma, mycoplasma and chlamydial infections. 304
Material and research methods. The study group included 167 patients with a mixed infection of chlamydia, ureaplasma, and mycoplasma infection. The age of the patients ranged from 17 to 48 years. As well as patients with epididymitis and orchiepididymitis, 44 cases.
Method of administration and dose. It is advisable to examine and, if necessary, treat sexual partners. During treatment, sexual intercourse should be excluded or the use of barrier contraceptives during this period should be considered. Unidox Solutab for the acute course of the disease was prescribed 0.1 1 tablet. x 2 times a day, for 10 days. For chronic infection, the drug was prescribed: Day 1: 1 tablet. x 2 times a day, in subsequent days 1 tablet x 1 time a day for 15 days. In all cases, the drug was used in combination with immunostimulating therapy: Vitamin therapy (usually Multitabs intensive), interferon therapy (Viferon2 (500 thousand units). For epididymitis and orchiepididymitis, Unidox Solutab was the drug of choice. In parallel, blockades of the spermatic cord according to Lorin Epstein with a solution of Novocaine and antibiotic, which significantly shortened the treatment time.
At the time of treatment and 1.5 months after treatment, sexual partners abstained from sexual intercourse or used condoms.
Side effects occurred quite rarely in the form of nausea, epigastric burning, loss of appetite
Results and their discussion;. The effectiveness of the treatment was assessed on the basis of objective data: complaints, objective examination, and control PCR study. All patients underwent a control PCR analysis after 1.5 months. In all 167 cases, neither objectively nor according to a control PCR study (in all cases it was negative), there was no evidence of relapse of the disease.
Thus, the data obtained indicate that the drug Unidox Solutab is sufficiently effective in the complex treatment of ureaplasma, mycoplasma, and chlamydial infections, and also leads to a reduction in treatment time.

What are the contraindications?
The main contraindication is hypersensitivity to tetracyclines and other components of the drug. It is prohibited to carry out drug therapy during the entire period of pregnancy. The greatest risks of developing pathologies in the fetus occur in the 1st trimester, when the placenta has not yet formed. The active substance can accumulate in bone tissue, which will disrupt mineralization processes and lead to unpredictable consequences.
For the treatment of children under 8 years of age, Unidox Solutab tablets, the instructions for use confirm this, are not prescribed. They should be abandoned if there are serious problems with the liver and kidneys. They are not prescribed for the diagnosis of porphyria. This pathology is hereditary, it is characterized by disorders of pigment metabolism and other pathological symptoms.
What antibiotics are safe to drink alcohol with?
It is better to completely abstain from drinking alcohol during illness. However, medications from the list below do not have a negative interaction with alcohol:
- amoxicillin;
- azithromycin;
- ciprofloxacin;
- cephalexin;
- clarithromycin;
- clindamycin;
- levofloxacin;
- penicillin.
Antibiotics of the tetracycline group, including Doxycycline, have little interaction with alcohol. There is no need to worry about the development of a disulfiram-like reaction. However, ethyl alcohol significantly reduces the amount of tetracyclines in the blood. You must tell your doctor about the amount of alcohol you drink. The specialist will recalculate the dosage of medications and change the duration of the course of therapy.
Even if the doctor prescribes an antibiotic compatible with alcohol, it is necessary to take the treatment process responsibly. Any infection weakens the body, and the entry of ethyl alcohol into the blood will only worsen the resistance of the immune system.
Instead of strong drinks, it is better to drink clean water, eat right and get plenty of sleep. Alcohol interferes with the body's ability to absorb vital nutrients and increases blood sugar levels. And chronic alcoholism will even provoke constant relapses of infectious diseases, the development of multiresistance, bacterial resistance to all known types of antibiotics.
Possible body reactions
While taking Solutab tablets, the instructions for use indicate this, health-threatening symptoms may occur. The most common problems occur in the digestive system. When taking the medicine the following is noted:
- Nausea.
- Vomit.
- Diarrhea.
- Dysbacteriosis.
The drug may cause:
- Anorexia, characterized by refusal to eat due to a neuropsychiatric disorder.
- Dysphagia, which is associated with disorders of the swallowing process.
- Enterocolitis, against the background of which inflammatory processes occur in the intestines.
- Pseudomembranous colitis, which provokes acute inflammation in the large intestine.
After taking Unidox Solutab tablets, allergies or dermatological problems of varying severity may occur. Very often there is urticaria and rash in various manifestations and places. If the patient suffers from autoimmune diseases, for example, lupus erythematosus, then the risks of developing exacerbations increase significantly. Sometimes treatment with the drug leads to the development of pericarditis and exfoliative dermatitis.
When therapy is carried out for a long time, the risks of malfunctions in the liver and kidneys increase. The drug poses an increased danger to patients with renal or liver failure.
Also, the instructions for the drug focus on other side effects. Malfunctions may occur:
- Hematopoietic systems.

When can you take antibiotics after drinking alcohol?
Antibiotic therapy is often prescribed for exacerbation of diseases. Should I stop taking the medicine if I have alcohol in my body? The final decision is made by the doctor, based on the medical history and health status of the patient. If the benefits of antibiotic therapy outweigh the potential threats, then the first injection is given without taking into account the time that has passed since the last time you drank alcohol. If the underlying disease does not directly threaten the patient’s life, then the start of a course of antibiotic therapy is postponed until ethanol is completely removed from the body. The exact timing depends on the type and amount of alcohol consumed.
Doctors categorically do not recommend giving antibiotics to people who are acutely intoxicated. In a person who drinks large amounts of alcohol over a short period of time, liver enzymes are inhibited. This means that the medicine will not be able to be metabolized. The amount of active substance in the blood will increase. The risk of side effects will increase.
If antibiotic therapy is required for a person who has been abusing alcohol for a long period of time, a blood test will be performed first. The liver enzymes of chronic alcoholics break down medications too intensively. As a result, the concentration of active components in the blood decreases. It is necessary to review the dosage of the prescribed drug and conduct a test for resistance to antibacterial agents.
special instructions
An overdose of a medicine poses a health risk and can increase negative side reactions of the body. First of all, serious problems occur in the liver. Typically, severe vomiting and fever begin. Jaundice appears, azotemia also develops, the level of transaminases increases, and the prothrombin time increases.
If an overdose is suspected, you should urgently induce repeated vomiting, removing a large amount of water. After gastric lavage, absorbents should be taken. If necessary, you can take an additional laxative. After this, you should drink plenty of clean water for several days.
Actibiotic Unidox Solutab is available only by prescription. The shelf life of the drug is 5 years. The medicine should be stored at a temperature below +25°C out of the reach of children.
