This happens normally. If an ultrasound examination reveals more than 10 small underdeveloped follicles in any phase of the cycle, a diagnosis of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is made. There are no cysts themselves in the classical sense on the ovaries.
Polycystic ovary syndrome manifests itself individually, and there is no clear clinical picture for all patients with this disease.
