FEXOFAST (tablets)

Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

Fexofenadine is a non-sedating H1-histamine receptor blocker and is also a pharmacologically active metabolite of terfenadine . After taking the tablets, the antihistamine effect is achieved within an hour, the maximum effect is after 6 hours, and lasts for about 24 hours. Repeated use does not lead to the development of tolerance. Taking the drug does not cause cholinergic and adrenolytic, sedative effect, does not change the function of potassium and calcium channels, the QT interval in therapeutic dosages.

Inside the body, the drug is quickly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, the maximum concentration is reached after 1-3 hours. At the same time, binding to plasma proteins was established at 60-70%. Penetration through the blood-brain barrier was not noted. The drug is partially metabolized and excreted mainly in the bile and partly unchanged through the kidneys.

Description of the active components of the drug "Fexofenadine"

pharmachologic effect

Histamine H1 receptor blocker. Fexofenadine is a pharmacologically active metabolite of terfenadine. Does not have a sedative effect.

The antihistamine effect appears after 1 hour, reaching a maximum after 6 hours and lasts for 24 hours. After 28 days of administration, no addiction was observed.

It has been established that when taken orally in a dose range from 10 mg to 130 mg, the effectiveness of fexofenadine is dose-dependent.

Indications

Elimination of symptoms associated with seasonal allergic rhinitis, symptomatic treatment of chronic urticaria.

Dosage regimen

For adults and children over 12 years of age, the daily dose is 120-180 mg (1 time/day).

Side effect

Maybe:

headache, drowsiness, dizziness, fatigue, nausea, lethargy, increased fatigue.

Contraindications

Pregnancy, lactation, children under 6 years of age, hypersensitivity to fexofenadine.

Pregnancy and lactation

Fexofenadine is contraindicated for use during pregnancy and lactation (breastfeeding).

Fexofenadine passes into breast milk. If it is necessary to use fexofenadine during lactation, the issue of stopping breastfeeding should be decided.

Use for liver dysfunction

Use with caution in patients with liver failure.

Use for renal impairment

Use with caution in patients with renal failure.

Use in old age

Use with caution in elderly patients.

Application for children

The use of the drug in children under 6 years of age is not recommended.

special instructions

Use with caution in elderly patients or in patients with renal or hepatic insufficiency.

The effectiveness and safety of fexofenadine in children under 6 years of age have not been studied.

Impact on the ability to drive vehicles and operate machinery

Based on the pharmacodynamic profile and known side effects, it can be assumed that the effect of fexofenadine on the ability to drive vehicles and activities requiring increased concentration is unlikely. Objective studies have shown that fexofenadine does not have a significant effect on the functions of the central nervous system. However, it is recommended to test individual reactions before driving or other potentially hazardous activities.

Drug interactions

Fexofenadine is not biotransformed in the liver and therefore does not interact with other drugs undergoing hepatic metabolism.

It has been shown that with simultaneous use of fexofenadine with erythromycin or ketoconazole, the plasma concentration of fexofenadine increases 2-3 times, which is apparently associated with an increase in absorption from the gastrointestinal tract and a reduction in either bile excretion or gastrointestinal secretion. However, no changes in the QT interval were observed.

When taking antacids containing aluminum or magnesium 15 minutes before taking fexofenadine, a decrease in its bioavailability was observed, most likely due to binding in the gastrointestinal tract. The recommended time interval between taking fexofenadine and antacids containing aluminum or magnesium hydroxide is 2 hours.

Does not interact with omeprazole or drugs metabolized in the liver.

Reviews of Fexofast

Unfortunately, all kinds of allergic manifestations bother many people. They often manifest themselves in the form of shortness of breath , urticaria or allergic rhinitis . All patients who have taken this drug leave positive reviews about Fexofast, which only confirms its effectiveness.

However, some patients say that the medicine provides only temporary relief, but does not bring complete recovery. Cases of side effects have also been reported - usually an increase in allergy , the development of swelling, increased drowsiness and general weakness of the body.

Therefore, experts recommend not to treat allergies on your own. The fact is that before starting treatment, it is necessary to find out the cause of the disorder. In addition, in addition to antihistamines, additional drugs may be prescribed, for example, those that improve the functioning of the digestive system, such as Lactofiltrum . In any case, it is important to first undergo examination by an allergist.

FEXOFAST (tablets)

Fexofenadine (the active ingredient) is not yet familiar to me.
According to Google, it should help with allergic snot and allergic scabies. I have both, and in addition my eyes in August do not allow me to look at the world normally. But about “do not use after the period indicated on the package”, this is what my grandmother said in two. One grandmother named Malysheva says that if you store the tablets in the dark and cold, then you can pop them without fear. Ten small tablets in a traditional plastic blister under foil give me hope that my vacation will not just pass me by, but will take me with it.

And now - the jambs and external shortcomings. The first is that the name of the drug is written in one place, and in such a way that a squeezed-out tablet in two uses will completely deprive the package of its name. This means that it will make it potentially dangerous for those who burst pills based on the principle of similarity in size, color and degree of convexity.

The second problem: the production date and expiration date are not embossed on the plastic with foil, but are written in paint. As soon as the tablet is pulled out in this place, further use of the medicine is possible only if it is at hand and there is absolutely no doubt that it can be confused with other tablets.

The tiny tablet can be swallowed even without the use of water. It doesn’t have any groove to divide it in half (or screw it in with a screwdriver, whichever is convenient for you).

The manufacturer included a sheet with text for the doctor and patient. There is a lot to read, but the most important thing that made me buy these previously unknown tablets was the indication that they had no sedative effect.

And it’s true - fexofast doesn’t make me sleepy at all. Sometimes I can take two tablets a day and still not feel drowsy, but the question is: why take two? So one is missing? Well, sort of, yes, sometimes it’s not enough. Fexofast did not live up to my high expectations. As they told me at the pharmacy before: buy it for 30 rubles, and get results worth 30 rubles. And buy for three hundred - the effect will be for all three hundred. In the case of fexofast, this trick did not work.

I take one tablet in the morning. Plus eye drops, and I seem to survive until lunch. But at lunchtime I may need a pill again, because the Czech is coming back. Or maybe you won't need it. So I cannot speak with confidence about the effectiveness of the product. And I also can’t say that the tablets are not at all effective. So I will join the majority of authors on the site who have already written about Fexofast - neither fish nor fowl.

I won’t recommend pills from my own experience. The 50/50 operating principle does not suit me. I need a hundred or even two hundred: a hundred so as not to sneeze, and a hundred so as not to itch.

Don't sneeze. Well, if only for trouble. And in general, be healthy. Both body and soul.
