Sanorin

Sanorin (naphazoline) is an anticongestant, a remedy for relieving swelling of the nasal mucosa. It has a direct stimulating effect on sympathetic alpha-2 adrenergic receptors. It is administered intranasally (through the nasal passages). Causes a rapid, powerful and long-lasting vasoconstrictor effect at the injection site, helps eliminate swelling and causes blood outflow from the nasal mucosa, nasopharynx and paranasal sinuses. The result of this action is the restoration of free air circulation in the nasal passages and easier breathing through the nose. The patency of the Eustachian (auditory) tube, the canal connecting the middle ear cavity with the pharynx, is also restored. The therapeutic effect of the drug develops within five minutes after injection into the nasal passages and is maintained for 4-6 hours. Sanorin is used for acute inflammation of the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity, inflammation of the middle ear (as an adjuvant to reduce swelling of the mucous membranes), inflammation of the mucous membranes of the paranasal sinuses, Eustachian tube and tympanic cavity, larynx, to relieve swelling of the mucous membranes before diagnostic and therapeutic measures. Sanorin is not used in case of individual intolerance to naphazoline or auxiliary components of the drug, chronic inflammation of the nasal mucosa (including atrophy of the mucous membrane and the nerve endings located in it), closed-angle glaucoma, hypertension, severe atherosclerotic vascular damage, rapid heartbeat, hyperactivity of the thyroid gland , diabetes mellitus. The possibility of using Sanorin in pediatric practice depends on the concentration of the solution: a 0.05% solution can be used in patients starting from 2 years of age, 0.1% solution - from 15 years of age.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding are not direct contraindications to the use of Sanorin; however, when deciding on its use, it is necessary to carefully weigh the potential risks with the expected benefits. A single dose for adults is 1-3 drops (or 1-3 sprays for a spray) in each nostril, for children - 1-2 drops. The frequency of use in adults is 3-4 times a day, in children it is the same, but with more strict adherence to the required interval between injections, which should be at least 4 hours. When using Sanorin in the form of a spray for the first time, you should make a test injection into the air. The bottle must be held vertically during injections. After injection, it is recommended to inhale through the nose to “capture” the maximum amount of spray. When using Sanorin in the form of an emulsion, an opened bottle must be consumed within a month. Otherwise, unused remains of the drug must be disposed of. The duration of use of the drug should not exceed seven days in adults and three days in children. When the desired result is achieved - easier breathing through the nose - decongestive pharmacotherapy is stopped. When used in doses specified in the instructions for use, Sanorin is well tolerated and does not cause clinically significant side effects. When using the drug in maximum doses for a long time, as well as in persons with hypersensitivity to naphazoline, itching and dryness of the nose, chronic obstruction of the nasal passages and pathological changes and degradation of the nasal mucosa are possible.

Use of the drug Sanorin

Nasal drops 0.05 and 0.1%, emulsion for intranasal use 0.1%: adults, 1–3 drops of 0.1% solution or emulsion in each nasal passage; children aged 2–6 years: 1–2 drops of 0.05% solution; 6–15 years - 2 drops of 0.05% solution. Dosage regimen - 2-3 times a day with an interval of at least 4 hours. Nasal spray 0.1%: adults and children over 15 years of age 1-3 irrigations of the spray in each nasal passage 3 times a day with an interval of at least 4 hours 1 dose corresponds to 1 vigorous press on the bottle. Immediately after using the spray, it is recommended to inhale through the nose. The drug Sanorin is not recommended for adults to use for more than 1 week, for children - for more than 3 days; the use of the drug in the presence of positive clinical dynamics can be stopped earlier. Repeated use of Sanorin is possible only after a few days.

Side effects of the drug Sanorin

If the dosage regimen is followed, Sanorin is usually well tolerated. In some cases, side effects may appear due to the local action of the drug - irritation of the mucous membrane, burning, dryness, reactive hyperemia; as well as the resorptive effect of the drug due to irritation of the sympathetic nervous system: irritability, increased sweating, weakness, tremor, palpitations, nausea, headache, in some cases - increased blood pressure, tachycardia. Long-term and frequent use of Sanorin can lead to chronic nasal congestion and drying of the mucous membrane.

SANORIN (drops)

-What.
I already bought “Sanorin” drops out of desperation, just to try. You can get almost nothing from doctors, they prescribe some standard set of drugs, when you say that this doesn’t help us anymore, they offer something else that we have already tried. With one child, each medicine is still new, but with two or more you begin to go through it - they bought this, they bought that too. And even with such prices. And Sanorin drops have a more or less adequate price. I took them for one hundred and sixty and a few kopecks rubles. “Sanorin” generally has a wide range of products, not only children’s drops, but also several types of regular drops, and also has sprays. I somehow don’t like taking sprays for runny noses for children, so I preferred drops.

But these children's drops for runny nose "Sanorin" are not suitable for children under two years of age, this should be taken into account. Mine was already two years old at that time, although I took these drops for my older child, he became very ill, first caught a cold, then developed a complication in the form of otitis, so he had to be treated for an average of two and a half or three weeks. And the little one had a runny nose rather as a reaction to teething, and, in general, he had been snotty all spring, the doctors said that this was a reaction to the teeth and there really couldn’t be anything to get rid of it, we just had to endure it, which is what we did. True, somehow the runny nose miraculously went away with the onset of warmer days.

So, children’s drops for runny nose “Sanorin”, for some reason I always confuse them with “Rinostop”. They are packaged in a cardboard box, mostly white, with pink and blue accents. The box shows a bottle with drops that contain information about the dosage of this product. This drug contains naphazoline at a dosage of 0.05%.

The bottle of drops is miniature enough, as is the box in which it is packaged. The volume here is only ten milliliters. The bottle is designed in the same shades as its packaging. There is no need to buy a pipette, it is included in the kit, that is, it is already on the bottle. It is soft, either rubber or silicone, but it is quite comfortable to use; sometimes you don’t have to press it.

These drops have a glass bottle, and the glass is dark brown, protecting the drug from the negative effects of light. Of course, a glass bottle is better, in my opinion, but it can be broken accidentally. You don't know what's best here. It’s better if it’s glass, it won’t be harmful or something.

This drug applies to children up to fifteen years of age, and then the adult version can be used at a dosage of 0.1%. There is evidence that the drug can be used by pregnant and lactating women. Naturally, with the permission of the doctor and only after consultation with him.

A closed bottle will keep for three years, but if you open it, you should throw it away after four weeks.

The drops, as they should be, are transparent and odorless. The taste doesn’t seem to be unpleasant, since I don’t remember any negative impressions, it means it’s not bitter.

There is a very big caveat regarding the duration of treatment; the instructions contain instructions that they should not be treated for longer than three days. That is, it must be an initial runny nose, but not a protracted one, for this drug to help.

These drops didn’t help any of my children; they still had a runny nose. I did not treat them with these drops any longer, I followed the instructions.

But I was so glad that they were in the first aid kit when I myself caught a runny nose. This is probably a miracle, but these children's drops helped me, and within three days there was a significant improvement. I didn’t undergo any further treatment; the residual runny nose went away. Therefore, I will still recommend them, even though they were not suitable for children, they helped me, which means they are effective.

Pharmacological properties

Sanorin-Analergin solution is used in ophthalmology as a local combined antiallergic and vasoconstrictor. One of its components, naphazoline, belongs to the group of alpha2-adrenergic agonists and has a pronounced and long-lasting vasoconstrictor effect. Thanks to it, it significantly reduces swelling, exudative manifestations and redness of the mucous membranes.

The second component of the antazoline solution is an H1-histamine receptor blocker that has antiallergic and anti-edematous effects.

With prolonged use, the drug is addictive and its effectiveness decreases.

Special instructions for the use of the drug Sanorin

If the drug is used for a long time, it should be taken into account that its vasoconstrictor effect gradually decreases, and therefore after 5-7 days of treatment it is necessary to take a break for several days. Children and patients with diseases of the cardiovascular system (hypertension, arterial hypertension), coronary artery disease, heart failure) or metabolic disorders (hyperthyroidism, diabetes mellitus), pheochromocytoma, asthma can use Sanorin only under the supervision of a physician. When treating with Sanorin, care must be taken during anesthesia with the use of anesthetics that increase the sensitivity of the myocardium to sympathomimetics (for example, halothane). Long-term use (1 week) of the drug should be avoided, as this can cause swelling with further atrophy of the nasal mucosa. During pregnancy and breastfeeding. Sanorin can be used only in cases where the expected benefit from use outweighs the potential risk to the fetus/child. Sanorin does not affect the ability to drive vehicles and machinery.

Overdose of the drug Sanorin, symptoms and treatment

Long-term or too frequent use of the drug can cause the development of severe reactive hyperemia of the nasal mucosa. An overdose or accidental ingestion of the drug can cause systemic side effects, which are manifested by nervousness, increased sweating, headache, tremor, tachycardia, palpitations, hypertension (arterial hypertension). Cyanosis, nausea, hyperthermia, cardiac arrest, pulmonary edema, and mental disorders are also possible. The depressant effect on the central nervous system is manifested by symptoms such as hypothermia, bradycardia, excessive sweating, drowsiness, hypotensive shock, apnea, coma. Treatment is symptomatic. The risk of overdose exists if the drug is accidentally used in young children and is manifested by hypothermia, bradycardia, increased sweating, respiratory failure, drowsiness, arterial hypo- or hypertension, and loss of consciousness. Treatment: emergency medical care.
