Farbirovich V.Ya., Danilenko V.A., Kovalenko O.V.
Urology Clinic of Kemerovo State Medical Academy, Kemerovo, Russia Relevance of the problem. High prevalence and insufficient effectiveness of treatment of chronic prostatitis, social maladaptation, family and work.

Purpose of the study. To study the effect of the drug Likoprofit in the complex therapy of chronic prostatitis.

Lycoprofit is a dietary supplement containing a complex of plant extracts of dwarf palm fruits, African plum bark, nettle root, which is an additional source of vitamins E, C, D3, the antioxidant lycopene and minerals (chromium, zinc, selenium).

Materials and methods of research: The study group included patients with severe exacerbation of the process. Patients with acute prostatitis were excluded from the study. We observed 60 patients with chronic prostatitis. The age of the patients ranged from 18 to 43 years. The duration of the disease is from 1 to 13 years. The comparison group consisted of 15 patients with a confirmed diagnosis of CP and symptoms of the disease who did not receive Licoprofit. In addition to collecting complaints and anamnesis data, the severity of pain syndrome was assessed, and the severity of urinary symptoms (IPSS) was assessed. The assessment also took into account data from a physical examination (palpation of the prostate), collection of general clinical tests, collection of prostate secretions or a three-glass sample, culture of the material for flora and sensitivity to antibacterial drugs, ultrasound of the prostate with assessment of the condition of the parenchyma of the gland (presence of additional structures, calcifications, fibrous changes) . Diagnosis of chronic sexually transmitted infections (PCR) was carried out.

The contingent of patients with CP is emotionally labile and psychologically unstable, which requires an individual approach to almost every patient.

All patients were divided into two groups. The first group (15 people) included patients who during treatment received standard drug therapy, including antibacterial (according to indications) based on microflora cultures and sensitivity to antibiotics, immunostimulating and antispasmodic therapy, physiotherapy and vitamin therapy.

The second group (45 people) included patients with severe irritative and less pronounced obstructive symptoms. In this group, patients received Licoprofit in addition to standard treatment methods. Licoprofit was prescribed 1 capsule once a day. The duration of treatment was 1 month.

Results and their discussion. The effectiveness of the treatment was assessed on the basis of subjective and objective data: complaints, the International System of Summary Symptoms for Prostate Diseases (IPSS), analyzes of prostate secretions with bacteriological and bacterial examination.

In the first group, the average treatment time was 17 days, while with the use of Licoprofit, the treatment time was reduced to 12 days. Dysuric symptoms decreased already on the 4th–5th day of treatment, and stopped by the end of treatment. Moreover, subjective improvement occurred on days 5–6. Urgent urges and dysuric symptoms sharply decreased.

Against the background of standard therapy, Licoprofit effectively influenced the main symptoms of CP, increasing the effectiveness of treatment. At earlier stages, the pain syndrome decreased, the act of urination improved: the frequency of urination decreased, the stream increased.

Conclusions:

  1. The drug Likoprofit is effective in the complex treatment of patients with CP.
  2. The use of the drug leads to a decrease in irritative symptoms and a reduction in treatment time.
  3. Lycoprofit is well tolerated by patients, without any side effects.

Likoprofit Capsules, 30 pcs, 500 mg, for oral administration, for adults

Description

LYCOPROFIT is a biologically active food supplement for men, containing a complex of plant extracts of Sabal palm fruits, horsetail herb extract, which is a source of vitamins E, C, D3, the antioxidant lycopene and the minerals chromium, zinc, and selenium.
Properties of dietary supplement components for food LIKOPROFIT

LYKOPROFITE is a source of vitamins E, C, D3, the antioxidant lycopene and minerals: chromium, zinc and selenium, and also contains a standardized extract of Sabal palm fruits (fatty acid content of at least 25%) and a standardized extract of horsetail herb (tannin content in in terms of tannin not less than 5%).

Lycopene

A carotenoid with powerful antioxidant properties. Lycopene selectively accumulates in prostate tissues and protects cells from damage by free radicals, reduces the activity of inflammatory and autoimmune processes in prostate tissues, prevents the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone and controls the excessive proliferation of prostate cells. Lycopene improves sperm quality by increasing the number of normal active forms of sperm. According to scientific research, lycopene reduces the risk of prostate cancer.

Sabal palm fruit extract

Contains fatty acids that block 5-alpha reductase, thereby inhibiting the proliferation of prostate tissue. It has an anti-inflammatory and anti-edematous effect, which leads to a decrease in the frequency of nighttime urges to urinate and a decrease in the volume of residual urine.

Horsetail extract

The biologically active substances contained in horsetail extract have a cardiotonic and restorative effect, have anti-inflammatory properties and a diuretic effect: it helps remove excess fluid from the body, without having any effect on the salt balance of the body. Thus, all metabolic processes improve, and swelling is significantly reduced.

Vitamin E

It has pronounced antioxidant activity and neutralizes the effects of free radicals. Has a beneficial effect on the sexual function of men. Helps improve sperm motility.

Vitamin C

Increases the body's resistance to infections, reduces the severity of inflammatory reactions, and supports the enzyme system of antioxidant defense.

Vitamin D3

Prevents the development of muscle weakness, participates in the regulation of heart contractions, improves immunity, and inhibits excessive growth of prostate cells.

Chromium

A vital microelement that is a permanent component of the cells of all organs and tissues. Prevention of reproductive disorders in men.

Selenium

An antioxidant necessary for the normal functioning of the prostate. Deficiency can lead to infertility, chronic fatigue and aspermia.

Zinc

Plays an important role in the antimicrobial activity of prostate secretions. Additional zinc intake reduces the severity of the inflammatory reaction, and, accordingly, prostatic symptoms.

Microelements are included in the preparation in the form of organic compounds (chelate complexes), which improves their absorption.

Positive effect on body functions:

Improves the functional state of the genitourinary system in men, helps maintain prostate function.

Prostatitis (inflammation of the prostate gland)

The most common urological disease in men aged 20-50 years. Patients with prostatitis suffer primarily from pain of varying intensity and urinary disorders (dysuria). Prostatitis affects 40% of men under 40 years of age, and with age the number of cases continues to increase.

The risk of developing prostatitis is increased by factors such as:

• Hypothermia of the body,

• Sedentary lifestyle,

• Long-term sexual abstinence,

• Presence of foci of infection (for example, colitis, chronic bronchitis, tonsillitis),

• Previous venereal and urological diseases,

• Any other conditions that contribute to a decrease in immunity (physical overexertion and stress, unbalanced nutrition, overwork, etc.).

Prostate adenoma (benign prostatic hyperplasia)

It is a proliferation of cells in the glandular tissue of the prostate. According to statistics, this disease occurs today in 10-20% of men already at the age of 40, and with age the number of patients increases by an average of 10% every 10 years. The main symptoms of prostate adenoma are urinary disorders. One of the central mechanisms for the development of adenoma is an enlargement of the prostate gland under the influence of dihydrotestosterone, which is formed in the tissues from testosterone. However, modern ideas about the development of benign prostatic hyperplasia allow us to conclude that the pathogenesis of this disease is multifactorial. For this reason, the most effective method of its treatment and prevention is the use of a multicomponent product, the pharmacological action of which will make it possible to correct the entire complex of disorders leading to the development of this disease.

Prostatitis and prostate adenoma significantly reduce a man’s quality of life, because... are accompanied by pain and urination problems, and can also lead to serious complications, including impotence and infertility. According to research, 65% of men who seek medical help for infertility have a history of prostatitis.
