Vitamin C enhances the effect and side effects of antimicrobial agents from the sulfonamide group.

Antacids containing aluminum, magnesium, calcium, and cholestyramine reduce iron absorption.

When thiazide diuretics are prescribed simultaneously, the likelihood of hypercalcemia (increased calcium levels in the blood) increases.

It is not recommended to use Vitrum® Centuri together with medications containing vitamins A and D, due to an increased risk of overdose of these vitamins.

Conditions for dispensing from pharmacies

The drug is approved for use as a means of OTC.

Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

Pharmacodynamics

Vitrum Centrum belongs to a group of drugs called multivitamins or multivitamin preparations. Contains all vitamins and minerals in doses required for older people over 50 years of age. Increases resistance to diseases common at this age, improves physical and mental performance. Reduces the risk of cancer and heart diseases, prevents premature aging.

  • Vitamins A, E, C, beta-carotene, selenium, zinc, copper and manganese are antioxidants and protect cell elements, including chromosomes , from damage by oxygen radicals.
  • Vitamin A in older people is responsible for T- and B-cell immunity , and also helps accelerate the synthesis of cytokines . Retinoic acid supports the activity of killer cells, which play a major role in antiviral and anticancer defense.
  • Betacarotene is used in the body to build vitamin A and prevents damage to cell membranes by lipid peroxidation products.
  • Ascorbic acid is a powerful antioxidant that increases the body's nonspecific resistance.
  • Vitamin E is also a strong antioxidant, used in the biosynthesis of hemoglobin and proteins, and affects the condition of blood vessels.
  • Selenium is converted in the body to glutadione peroxidase , which protects cells and tissues from organic hydroperoxides.
  • Vitamins B1, B2 and B6 play an important role in normalizing protein, fat and carbohydrate metabolism.
  • Vitamin B1 promotes the proper functioning of the biochemical processes of the nervous, endocrine and cardiovascular systems.
  • Vitamin B2 is a component of flavin enzymes , which ensure tissue respiration and the formation of ATP in cells, as well as numerous energy-intensive redox processes.
  • Vitamin B6 is involved in the metabolism of glycogen , amino acids , sphingoid bases and the production of neurotransmitters .
  • Nicotinamide is a component of dehydrogenase proteins that transport hydrogen ions in cells.
  • Pantothenic acid is involved in the processes of endothelial restoration and fatty acid metabolism.
  • Vitamin B12 is needed for the production of nucleotides and the metabolism of fatty acids, and the passage of methylation processes in cells. Together with folic acid, it plays an important role in maintaining hematological and neurological homeostasis.
  • Folic acid is a coenzyme of molecules responsible for the synthesis and destruction of amino acids and nucleic acids. Consumption of the required amount of folic acid is the prevention of a number of cancer diseases, in particular cancer of the colon and rectum, lungs, esophagus, and stomach.
  • Vitamin K1 is used to prevent osteoporosis , has anti-sclerotic and anti-inflammatory effects, regulates blood glucose levels, and improves the clinical picture of Alzheimer's disease .
  • Vitamin D , copper, calcium, magnesium, manganese, zinc and boron play a large role in the prevention of osteoporosis (brittle bones).
  • Iodine is an important component of thyroid , which support the proper functioning of many metabolic processes and maintain immunity.
  • Iron is part of hemoglobin a , which carries oxygen to organs and tissues and cellular respiration, and many other proteins ( myoglobin, flavoproteins, transferrin, lactoferrin, hemosiderin ). Improves appetite, stimulates recovery and healing processes.
  • Molybdenum is involved in the construction of sulfite kinase, xanth oxidase and aldehyde oxidase molecules, which are responsible for the destruction of some amino acids and heterocyclic bases ( purines and pyrimidines ). These processes affect the neurological status of the body.
  • Chromium enhances the action of insulin .
  • Nickel in the composition of special proteins regulates iron metabolism.
  • Silicon is a building material for bones and collagen .

Vitrum Century Forte additionally contains:

  • lutein – prevents vision loss and improves its sharpness;
  • powder of the leaves of the Ginkgo Biloba is a proven remedy that increases cognitive functions (memory, numeracy, attention, and others) in older people;
  • tin – improves recovery processes, regulates the activity of flavin enzymes , an integral part of the gastrin .

Pharmacokinetics

Pharmacokinetic studies of the drug have not been conducted.
